Medicare Supplement and Drug coverage explained clearly
A Simple Path to Complete Medicare Coverage
Medicare Supplement plans (also called Medigap) help cover the out-of-pocket costs that Original Medicare doesn’t pay—like deductibles, copays, and coinsurance. But they don’t include prescription drug coverage, which is why most people also enroll in a standalone Medicare Part D plan to round out their healthcare protection.
At All Pro Assurance, we help you understand how these pieces fit together—and support you in choosing the right Med Supp plan with a coordinated drug coverage strategy.

What Medicare Supplement Covers
Medigap plans are offered by private insurers and work alongside Original Medicare (Parts A & B). Depending on the plan, they help pay for:
01
Part A hospital coinsurance and deductibles
02
Part B outpatient coinsurance
03
Excess charges and blood transfusions
04
Skilled nursing facility care
05
Skilled nursing facility care
Do I Need a Prescription Drug Plan Too?
Yes—if you choose a Medicare Supplement plan, you’ll also need a standalone Medicare Part D plan to get coverage for your prescription medications. Without one, you’ll pay full price at the pharmacy and may incur a late enrollment penalty down the road.
We help you:
- Understand formularies (which drugs are covered)
- Confirm your preferred pharmacy is in-network
- Avoid coverage gaps or costly penalties
- Time your enrollment properly
We don’t promote Part D plans as a standalone service, but we’ll guide you through how they work when you’re choosing your Medigap plan.
